Equus Partners wanted to expand its accounting services outside of the cafes for small businesses 13 business owners stated they relied on referrals and want assistance beyond accounting.
My leadership role involved understanding everyone's interactions and preferences, so I sent out an anonymous retrospective form for each team member to complete. This helped me understand their experiences, grievances, suggestions, and what they wanted to get more involved in.
9 out of 17 team members wanted to work on the user interface, which was a significant request from the previous sprint.
I oversaw the SEO strategies for the website re-design We conducted three iterations of usability testing with a total of 18 participants and received positive feedback with a desirability score of 6.3/10 to 8.8/10.
The main pain points identified were confusion with navigating the home page and inconsistent buttons on the referral page.
What I Learned 1. I gained valuable experience in delegation and administration.
I am proud I was able to openly communicate with the client at every step, including the difference between marketing and experience designers.
2. I wish to improve my decision-making next time through collating clients feedback better, and improve the morale of the team by bonding activities throughout the sprint.
3. Understanding now that the target demographic (hospitality sector) relies on word of mouth for networking and opportunities, we could leveraged this and inquired our current users about their own networks to see who is interested in interviews or testing.
Action Items 1. In-person interviews and guerrilla user testing would've been insightful, as users are very busy on the floor during our phone interviews. Having face-to-face interactions could've prevented the shortened calls and added a level of convenience and consideration.
2. The entry onto the landing page and ordering the book can be increased by 27%. Further user testing could reduce the user bounce rate by 12.5% which is useful for the action of referring a business on the website.
